Independence Day: Celebrate the Possibilities

John Adams wrote to his wife...

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."

He was off by two days. Forgiveable. Congress debated and revised the wording of the Declaration of Independence. They finally approved it on July 4. Cue firecrackers.

"The Declaration of Independence began with these words: "When in the course of human events ..." And whenever human events are at play, messiness prevails. The exceptional messiness that a single document produced, and the possibilities that followed and are still playing out: Those, in the end, are what we the people celebrate Wednesday." (Huffington Post)

Celebrate the possibilities.

I met my wife on July 4th, 2009. Today is our 4 year anniversary. We were married on December 17th 2011. Techincally, Dec 17th would be our anniversary, but I'll always remember July 4th as the day that changed my life forever. The day that a series of missteps and random encounters proved to be sweet serendipity.

Happy 4th.

Happy Indepedence Day.

Happy Birthday America.

Happy Anniversary to Kristen, my best friend, my wife, my angel, my life.

Thank you to God, The Universe and any other higher power out there pushing buttons and pulling levers. Thank you for bringing Kristen into my life. You answered my prayers undeniable and directly on that day. I'm eternally grateful.

July 4th, to me, is day that reaffirms my belief in life, love, intelligent design and divine intervention.

I have to quote a song that always takes me back and reminds me of the way I felt that fateful night, Saturday July 4th, 2009. Its called "Don't Let me Fall" by B.O.B....

Well it was just a dream
Just a moment ago
I was up so high
Looking down at the sky
Don't let me fall
I was shooting for stars
On a Saturday night
They say what goes up
Must come down
But don't let me fall

Happy 4th.
